[Riyadh, February 23, 2025]
In order to expand our international business footprint and seize new trends in global infrastructure development, our Managing Director, Zhang Lei, visited Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, to conduct an in-depth inspection of the landmark urban development projects under the “Saudi Vision 2030.” This visit focused on the innovative practices in modern urban construction, aiming to explore new pathways for China-Saudi cooperation and contribute forward-thinking solutions to global sustainable development.
Launched in 2016, Saudi Arabia’s century-spanning reform plan seeks to diversify the economy, open up society, and transform cities through smart technologies to build a “post-oil era” development model. Currently, mega-projects such as Riyadh and the NEOM city have attracted over USD 200 billion in global investment, becoming symbolic practices in the modernization of cities worldwide.
The inspection team visited several core projects in Riyadh, including ultra-large transportation hubs, digital urban management platforms, and zero-carbon community pilot projects. Saudi government representatives provided a systematic explanation of the operational logic behind the “smart city nerve center”—integrating energy, transportation, security, and other systems through the Internet of Things (IoT) and AI technologies to dynamically optimize the allocation of urban resources. Zhang Lei remarked, “Saudi Arabia’s practice of reshaping urban infrastructure through ‘green technology + digital drive’ serves as a forward-looking model for the global infrastructure industry.”
As a key player in the international infrastructure sector, our company has continuously deepened its involvement in international markets, having participated in major projects across Southeast Asia and other countries. This visit to Saudi Arabia injects new momentum into our entry into the Middle Eastern infrastructure market, and we will soon form a dedicated working group to advance project implementation.
